Bri,

Thanks for this insightful post.

Moving from prediction habits to participation is a great step to move foward out of stuck patterns.

I think the personal and collective anxiety concepts you mentioned apply well to the COVID pandemic. My nervous system personally became dysregulated practicing medicine in 2020-22 because of BOTH of those types of anxiety.

Hope you are feeling stronger and dancing again!

This is such a great parallel! It feels like there are an increasing number of issues that the personal and collective anxieties relate to and I think the COVID pandemic is such a poignant one.

And I love that you pointed out that you can experience both types at once!! The interplay between the two types is not well understood but I want to investigate further.

Thank you for your well wishes. I am indeed feeling much stronger and dancing again!! I wish you much rest and restoration my friend. I hope you are feeling better too <3

Your well-parsed ideas are always so appreciated Bri. I DO have AI anxiety. And climate anxiety! And I found your words below quite healing:

"AI anxiety and climate anxiety both emerge from the same truth: we’re living through systems that move faster than our collective capacity to reflect on them. But anxiety doesn’t have to be a dead end. It can be an invitation to learn, to imagine, and to act."

Thanks Bri, great post, the prediction vs participation lens is a powerful and useful one. I am very much in the participation camp I can see huge potential but my fear is the capitalistic framework of AI development and funding.

Absolutely, I hear you on that! The root of so many of our problems is the fact that our economic systems fail to prioritize the things that serve us. It's a very rational concern that it may continue to play out that way. I am here with you in that concern!!
